Silver Medal for Jack Norwood at 2011 ISSF World Championships

Following on from yesterdays great effort of 74/75, Jack shot a solid 24 to be on 98/100 to continue to jointly lead the Junior World Championship in Trap.

In an earlier squad, the young shooter from Kuwait who was tied with Jack for the championship posted a 24 in his last round to finish on a total of 122 leaving Jack in the uneviable position of knowing that a perfect score would win it, 24 would force a shootoff and 23 would leave him in silver position.

Not one to back down from the challenge, Jack shot brilliantly and went into his last 5 targets 1 target down. Unfortunately his third to last target slipped away resulting in a 23 & a total of 121 and the Silver Medal.

Not only did Jack win the Silver Medal, he also shot his International Olympic MQS to qualify him for the NZ Olympic team for London next year.

Congratulations Jack!

Ball Trap - the first event of the NI DTL Championships was held today at Waitemata CTC, that being the 50tgt Ball Trap. The conditions for shooting were almost perfect with good light & no wind. The target setting was superb with targets going the correct distance and all being withing height and angle, allowing the shooters to shoot to their potential

The early pace was set by Mark Vessey, in squad one, who shot a very solid 49. He was joined on this score by Des Coe, Brant Woodward & John Waldon.

Not to be out done, Dave Wordley & Gavin Searle both posted excellent 50's to shoot off for HOA & 1st A Grade. At the completion of the shoot off Gavin Searle took top honours, with Dave taking 1st A Grade.

In the shootoff for 2 & 3rd A Grade, Brant Woodward won from John Waldon.
